Američka Akademija filmskih umjetnosti i znanosti (AMPAS) jučer je objavila dokumentarne kandidate za 88. po redu nagrade Oscar. Radi se o prvom kvalifikacijskom krugu kojeg je zadovoljilo ukupno 124 dugometražnih nefikcijskih kandidata – deset manje nego prošle godine – s američkom kino distribucijom.

Od prošle godine Akademija je postrožila kvalifikacijske standarde, producentima i redateljima postavivši uvjet od četiri dnevne projekcije u jednom od losanđeleskih i njujorških kina. Film je na repertoaru morao opstati barem tjedan dana, uz plaćene reklame u tamošnjim tiskanim velikanima poput The New York Timesa i LA Weeklyja.

Konačne nominacije trebale bi biti poznate 14. siječnja 2016. godine, dok ćemo rezultate drugog nominacijskog kruga – shortliste od petnaest dokumentarnih djela, doznati u prosincu. 88. Oscari održat će se 28. veljače 2016. u losanđeleskom kazalištu Dolby.

A izlasku iz prvog kruga oskarovskog čistlišta mogu se nadati i brojni filmovi koje smo već popratili na portalu Dokumentarni.net: “The Wolfpack” (Crystal Moselle, 2015.), “Dolazimo u miru” / “We Come as Friends” (Hubert Sauper, 2014.), “Bolji život” / “Something Better to Come” (2014., Hanna Polak), “O ljudima i ratu” / “Of Men and War” (Laurent Bécue-Renard, 2014.), “Pogled tišine” / “The Look of Silence” (Joshua Oppenheimer, 2014.), “Snovolovka” / “Dreamcatcher” (Kim Longinotto, 2015.), “Amy” (Asif Kapadia, 2015.), “Cartel Land” (Matthew Heineman, 2015.) itd.

Ove godine preminuli dokumentarni velikan Albert Maysles (“Grey Gardens”, “Gimme Shelter”…), u oskarovsku je utrku ušao s filmom o modnoj ikoni Iris Apfel, “Iris” (2015). Michael Moore (“Ludi za oružjem”, “Fahrenheit 9/11”…) se na veliku scenu vratio s još jednim političkim komentarom američke vanjske politike (“Where to Invade Next”, 2015.), dok se glumac Ethan Hawke svijetu ukazao svojim dosta hvaljenim redateljskom doku-debijem o američkom pijanistu i kompozitoru Seymouru Bernsteinu, “Seymour: An Introduction” (2014).

Okrenimo se malo i prijašnjim dobitnicima Oscara. Osvajač Zlatnog kipića za “Zaljev” / “The Cove” (2009), Louie Psihoyos, novu prestižnu kolajnu ganjat će s dokumentarcem o čovjekovoj ulozi u uništenju biljnog i životinjskog svijeta (“Racing Extinction”, 2015.); Davis Guggenheim (“An Inconvenient Truth”, 2006.) napravio je film o Pakistanki Malali Yousafzai (“He Named Me Malala”, 2015.), a dvostruki kratkometražni oskarovac Bill Guttentag (“You Don’t Have to Die”, 1989.; “Twin Towers”, 2003.) uvodi nas u bliskoistočni ratni pakao kroz oči reportera Michaela Warea (“Only the Dead See the End of War”, 2014.).

Uistinu ugledno društvo mogli bi nabrajati do sutra. Prolifični Alex Gibney (“Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room”, 2005.; “Taxi to the Dark Side”, 2006), recimo, ove se godine kvalificirao s dva naslova (“Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine”, 2015.; “Pročišćenje: Scijentologija i tamnica vjere” / “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief”, 2015.), jednako kao i Amy Berg (“Janis: Little Girl Blue”, 2015.; “Prophet’s Prey”, 2015) koje se sjećamo po izvrsnim “Deliver Us from Evil” (2006) i “West of Memphis” (2012).

Kako onda propustiti ukazati i na Liz Garbus, potpisnicu odličnog dokumentarca o šahistu Bobbyju Fischeru (“Bobby Fischer Against the World”, 2011.), koja se ovog puta pozabavila životom glazbenice Nine Simone (“What Happened, Miss Simone”, 2015.).

Morgan Knibbe sa svojom je “Olupinom” / “Shipwreck” (2014) gostovao na 11. ZagrebDoxu, a temu za novi film ponovno je pronašao u izbjegličkoj koloni s Bliskog istoka (“Those Who Feel the Fire Burning”, 2014.).

Redateljice potresnog “The Devil Came on Horseback” (2007), Ricki Stern i Anne Sundberg, istražuju afričko podrijetlo repera Che Rhymefesta Smitha u dokumentarcu “In My Father’s House” (2015); Kirby Dick (“The Invisible War”, 2012.) ukazuje na epidemiju silovanja na američkim sveučlištima (“The Hunting Ground”, 2015.), a Čileanac Patricio Guzmán (“Nostalgija za svjetlom” / “Nostalgia for the Light” / “Nostalgia de la luz”, 2010.) zaranja u novu dozu nasilne čileanske povijest s ostvarenjem po imenu “The Pearl Button” / “El botón de nácar” (2015).
